GLAMOROUS MAIDS

An Indian Islamic scholar and writer once said that, "The importance of an education is quite clear. Education is the knowledge of putting one's potentials to maximum use. One can safely say that a human being is not in the proper sense till he is educated." this has become my passion - to be a person of knowledge and wisdom and to reach my maximum potential.

My college days were very enriching. it has given me so much joy for the friends that I 've met, so much agony for the countless surprise quizzes, so many sleepless nights just to come up with the right implications for the tables we had to interpret for our manuscripts. and yet, much of these experiences are what taught me numerous values that will guide me in my career as a NURSE. However, I felt as though none could have prepared me for the reality after graduation. Frustrations and failures did come my way, but i stood up and gained my self-worth....I may have finished two Bachelors Degree...BSC-MA and BSN but i still so much more to learn... I know i cannot learn everything from the four corners of the hospital or conference room. Experience may have been the best teacher for me but i still lack the experience that i needed to become better.. I was so wrong to believe that i learned what i needed to learn, that i know everything about my profession and future work. But there is still great deal that i do not know...i just know i have to continue seeking, mastering and specializing skills, learning and knowing....there is so much to learn and relearn out there that a lifetime is not enough for education. Much of what we must gain knowledge of is still not learned. Ignorance of the the things that we needed to know is not excusable.....Clients and patients want more than a qualified nurses to meet their needs..and I believe that a nurse undergoing continuing education coupled with clinical experience makes that professional qualified for the job......

I dream of the day when all nurses in the Philippines are looked upon as someone who is a critical member of the health care team and seen by clients as indispensable element for their health care needs..............If an only if, this day would commence, this will become not only a great turning point for nursing history but will be the day when nurses can say that their nursing profession will be very far off from being called the "GLAMOROUS MAIDS".
